On the 5th of December, Mullingar 4 All and Longford-Westmeath Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign launched an online fundraiser for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) a UK charity working for the health and dignity of Palestinains living under occupation and as refugees. MAP have a team operating in GAZA providing immediate medical support to those injured by the IDF’s bombing campaign.
On the 17th of December, Mullingar 4 All and Longford-Westmeath IPSC, held a musical fundraiser outside the Harbour Place Shopping Centre with local musicians, SuZen, John Staunton and Kathryn Nea, as well as local artist, Trea Ivory, who was selling Palestinians prints, with all proceeds going to Medical aid for Palestinians.
Although shoppers were engrossed in Christmas shopping, the message that the group was trying to put out that Christmas is cancelled in Palestine but we must do everything to keep talking about the situation in Palestine.
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, the group raised €597.52 in donations from the shoppers at Harbour Place shopping centre.
The group added the donations that they got from a Palestine protest in Athlone, that took place on the 16th of December outside the library. The online donations were also added, and in total Mullingar 4 All and Longford-Westmeath IPSC, raised €1067.52 for Medical Aid for Palestinians.
Founder and Chairperson of Mullingar 4 All & Longford-Westmeath IPSC, Christine O’Mahony said: “We are overwhelmed by all the support, we did not expect to raise this much, but it shows that the people support Palestine and throughout the Christmas Period we will continue to speak up about Palestine, we would like to thank everyone for their support”
